The 2008-2009 season marked our 15th year of free concerts. When Ralph Stewart organized this unique group as I Musici Di Napoli, he could not have realized how important it would become to the community . Now known as Naples Orchestra and Chorus, it has grown each year in members and in quality. With 40-50 instrumentalists in the orchestra, 30-40 singers in the chorus, and more than 4,000 people attending our concerts, we are quite proud.
The Naples Orchestra and Chorus is a non-profit volunteer organization. It attracts talented local amateur or retired musicians and singers who perform for personal satisfaction and growth. Quality classical and popular music is offered admission free to Naples and its environs every year. The community profits by being enriched culturally and people are entertained by concerts that suit a variety of tastes.
In addition to providing pleasure for its members and for folks in the community, Naples Orchestra and Chorus also gives young musicians and singers a chance to play or sing for an audience. The most deserving among them are awarded scholarship funds so that they can continue their musical studies.
Concerts are set for December, February and March. One weekend performance is scheduled for a Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon each month, and are held in the beautiful 600-seat auditorium of the new Golden Gate High School. Special concerts that feature "The Seven Last Words of Christ" are held in local churches.
